Get to know the place

Discarded vehicles have become an unusual artificial reef among the rock. The site continues into deep water, and the steep land approach is a major part of planning this experienced-diver outing.

What to see

  • Vehicle remains — Car wrecks sit at different depths among natural rock and have become artificial reef features.
  • The boulder area — Large rocks form a contrasting landscape beside the cliff-side reef.
  • Caves and overhangs — Several depths and overhead features are described; choose a defined, suitably trained route.

Features and marine-life sightings depend on the agreed route and conditions.

THE WAY IN

Getting there & access

Miġra l-Ferħa cliff-top area

Very steep stepped approach. The source favours boat access.

  1. Confirm whether your centre is using boat or shore access.
  2. For a shore plan, assess the roughly 150 steep steps from the parking area.
  3. Confirm the only local return point is usable before descending with equipment.

Plan for the day you go

Check the current regional wind and sea outlook, then agree the entry, exit, route and required experience with a local operator. Regional forecasts do not measure cave surge, currents, visibility, water quality or closures.

Cave and overhead access requires an on-site assessment and appropriate training and equipment.
